Bright ribbon ties and daisy trim add an accent color to an off-to-the-side drape. Combine your pique panel with a stylish curtain rod, to easily turn a plain-Jane curtain into a truly stylish window ornamentation.
Materials
- Plain piqué or linenlike drapery panels
- 1 1/2-inch-wide sheer ribbon cut into
27-inch lengths
- Purchased ribbon daisies
- Fabric glue or hot-glue gun and
hotmelt adhesive
Step by Step
Press the rod pocket of the panel smooth. Fold the ribbon strips in half crosswise and machine-sew each fold to the wrong side of the upper edge of the panel. Start 1 inch from each outer edge and evenly space the loops about 8 inches apart.
Glue or tack a daisy at the base of
each ribbon, covering the stitching. Tie the ribbons over the curtain rod. (If the curtain will be washed frequently, use washable ribbon and tack the daisies in place.) Note: Adding ribbon ties will lengthen the curtain. Hanging the new rod higher so the curtain does not pool on the floor makes the window appear larger and more open. |
