Ball fringe and grommets add playful bounce to a plain sheer panel for a '60s retro look. Try using it in a nursery for a soft look that adds color without weighing your decor down. The sheer panel allows plenty of light through, but it also offers privacy.
Materials - Purchased sheer panel
- Ball fringe trim
- Grommets and grommet tool (either
plier-type or hammer-type)
- Fray-check liquid (optional)
Step by Step
Cut the panel in half to form two
panels. Hem the raw edges, turning them under 1/2 inch, then 1/2 inch again. Topstitch the ball fringe over each hem, turning under the raw edge of the flange. You may treat this edge with fray-check liquid.
Mark the points for the grommets along the curtain top, starting about
1 inch from each edge and evenly spacing the grommets about 8 inches apart. Using a grommet tool and following the package directions, place a grommet at each mark, going through all the fabric layers.
Note: Make sure the grommets are large enough and the rod is small enough for the curtain panels to slide easily. For a unified appearance, look for rods and tiebacks that repeat the ball design. |
